About
I am a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Linguistics of the Memorial University of Newfoundland. My research interest is in phonological theory and phonological development. I am interested in studying the Morphology-Phonology interface and how their interaction shapes our understandings of alternations.
My current research looks at the theoretical underpinnings of the vowel harmony system of Ewe (a Kwa language spoken in the Volta region of Ghana and parts of Togo). Specifically, I employ optimality theory (OT) to show how vowel segments are specified for distinctive features. I also use OT in modeling the grammar of Ewe in order to account for the vowel harmony system of the language.
In the future, I want to explore the phonological development of Ewe, with emphasis on complex consonants and the harmony system.
Aside from linguistics, I am a photographer. I do family and individual portraits as well as weddings. You can check out my recent works here.
